At present our solutions are primarily in the form of on-site actuarial support, whereby carefully selected individuals are placed on site in a client’s office to provide the required support. Such projects could last from a week to over a year, although typically run for three to six months.
Unlike most of our competitors, we are not involved in permanent recruitment or in non-actuarial sectors. This allows us to devote all of our energies to the provision of interim actuarial services.
The strongest areas of demand for our services to date have come from blue chip UK financial institutions such as global insurance companies and bancassurers. Demand has primarily been for support in areas of life assurance although we also see requirements for support in pensions and general insurance environments, and we are in a position to supply such services.
Typical areas of actuarial work in which we can help our clients include:
• EEV and MCEV profit reporting
• Statutory valuation support including both Peak 1 and Peak 2 Realistic Balance Sheet work
• ICA work
• Solvency II preparation
• Modelling work using proprietary systems such as MoSes, Prophet and VIPiTech
• Model documentation
• With profits management
• Systems migrations
• Finance transformations
• Product development and pricing work
• Illustrations development and testing
• Spreadsheet reviewing and de-risking
• Software testing
• Unit pricing
• Bulk purchase annuities
The process for engaging APR usually takes the following form.
1. The client contacts us with either a job specification or a verbal description of the temporary support required.
2. We identify suitable candidates and contact them to confirm their availability and interest in the role.
3. We provide CVs of those candidates who are available and are the best match for the role.
4. The client will then usually perform a phone interview with one or more candidates, and then confirm how they would like to proceed.
5. We then make travel and accommodation arrangements for the selected candidate to enable them to start on the date agreed with the client.
